(12/19/14) Jon W. Hakanson, 61, of Hope Valley, died Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at South County Hospital. He was the former husband of Jane Hakanson of West Greenwich. Born in Warwick, he was a son of the late Berthel H. Hakanson and Eleanor M. (Wilkinson) Hakanson. Mr. Hakanson worked as Machinist for the General Dynamics Divison of Electric Boat. He was a graduate of Coventry High School, attended La Salle Academy and C.C.R.I. He was an avid swimmer and a member of the RI Aquatic Association. He leaves his two sons, Jon L. Hakanson of North Providence and Michael J. Hakanson of Warwick. Cherished grandfather of Violet J. Hakanson. He was the brother of Jeffrey B. Hakanson of Coventry, Pamela Hakanson McPhillips of Cranston, Carla S. Waldt of Douglasville, PA, and Jill S. Turner of Coventry. His Funeral Service will be held Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 2:00 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95). Burial will be private.
