(12/19/14) Marjorie G. Thayer, 92, passed away Wednesday at Saint Elizabeth Home in East Greenwich. She was the loving wife of the late Earl F. Thayer, Jr. Born in Providence she was a daughter of the late George B. and Vivian I. (Staples) Geer. She was the mother of Deborah J. Thayer, with whom she had lived; of Lyndsey T. Wells & her husband Bob of Providence and of the late Meredith M. Thayer. She was a devoted “Grammy” to her two grandchildren: Kathryn and Alan Wells of Providence. She is also survived by three nieces: Susan Wilson & her husband David of Oak Bluffs, MA; Joyce Hidler & her husband Nicholas Incerti of Deep River, CT, and Nancy Martone & her husband Patrick of Rutland, MA. She was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Hidler & her husband William. Marjorie was a dance instructor and the owner of Marjorie Geer Thayer Dance Studio for 50 years. She was a member of All Saints Memorial Church in Providence where she sang in the choir and served as Director of the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Rainbow Alumnae; a member and past president of the Coventry Players and a member of the Board of the Martha’s Vineyard Camp Meeting Association, Oak Bluffs, MA. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 21 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 22 at 10:00 AM at All Saints Memorial Church, 674 Westminster Street, Providence. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
