(07/13/15) Josephine Fortune, 87, of Hope Valley passed away on July 8, 2015. Born in Hope Valley on September 30, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Stanislaw and Frances (Ratenskee) Ponichtera. Josephine worked in the English Department at the University of Rhode Island for many years until her retirement. She is survived by her two sons; Wayne T. Fortune and Christopher R. Fortune and his wife Debbie. She was predeceased by her brothers; Edward, Michael, Walter and Stanley Ponichtera and Sister Yvonne Colozzi. Josephine was the grandmother of Jeremey Fortune and his wife Meredith, Jason Fortune, and Kerri Brown and her husband Chris. She was the great-grandmother to Caitlin, Madison, Jaedon, Nolan, Sadie, Hunter and Cormac. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
