(11/30/14) Joanna E. (Cronin) Petrone, 86, of Wheeler Road, Stonington, CT, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Apple Rehab, Mystic, CT. Born in Stonington, CT, she was the wife of the late Frank J. Petrone and the daughter of the late Daniel and Grace (Ennis) Cronin. Joanna was a homemaker to her loving family and enjoyed working at her sister’s business; Pequot Plant Farm and belonged to the Stonington Grange and the Westerly VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Post #8955. She is survived by her son; Wayne Petrone and his wife Anne, two daughters; Frances Pearce and her companion Ed Morrone and Roslyn Whitford and her husband Drew, one sister; Kathleen Jeffrey, six grandchildren; Matthew Petrone, Michael Petrone, Brandon Pearce, Justin Pearce, Alexa Whitford and Kali Whitford. She was predeceased by three sisters; Viola Cottrell, Barbara Nord and Peggy Verhasselt and two brothers; Richard Cronin and Denis Cronin. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, 95 Main Street, Stonington, CT. There is no procession from the funeral home. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 4-7 pm at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly. Burial will be private.
