(01/09/13) Arnaldo S. Paquette, 72, of Snell St., Fall River, husband of Mary Fatima (Teves) Paquette, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 following a long illness. Born in São Pedro de Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, he served in the Portuguese Army in Angola. A retired construction foreman, and member and past-treasurer of the Academica Club, he was a well know semi-pro soccer player, having played with several Massachusetts teams and the Maritimo and Micalense Soccer Clubs in Ponta Delgada. Besides his wife of 48 years, he leaves 4 children, Arnaldo Paquette, Jr. and his wife Grace, and Paul S. Paquette and his wife Theresa all of Fall River, Elizabeth P. Sousa and her husband Nelson of Hudson, and Diane Paquette and her boyfriend George Dias of Fall River; grandchildren, Scott, Keith and Tyler Paquette and Corey, Samantha and Andrew Sousa; siblings, Enezia, Fernanda and Natalia, all of Canada and Jose Luis of New Hampshire; and nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Augusto and Gilda (Sousa) Paquette, and the brother of the late Manuel and Edgar. His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Anne Church at 10:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation, Friday 5:00 to 9:00 PM.
