(05/28/14) Brindle, Nancy D., 90, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Kent Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Brindle. Born in Warwick she was a daughter of the late George H. and Florence (Brown) Dean. A very faithful Christian, Nancy was an active member of Norwood Baptist Church, Warwick and its Norbakirk Womens Group. She enjoyed knitting, playing cribbage and was a rabid Boston Red Sox fan. An avid bowler, Nancy holds the Rhode Island Duckpin Bowlers Association Recognized State Record for Doubles-Mixed High 3 Game Set. In 1981, Nancy (score of 505) and her partner Don Coutemanche (score of 527) bowled a combined 3 game set total of 1032 during a tournament at the Garden City Lanes in Cranston. In 1998 she was elected into the RIDBA Hall of Fame. She is survived by five children: David R. Brindle & his wife Marge of Sarasota, FL, Richard D. Brindle of Foster, Barbara B. Noonan & her husband Frank of Annapolis, MD, Dean P. Brindle of Warwick and Jane Cartwright & her husband Gary of Seekonk, MA; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Lucy B. Burke and George H. Dean, Jr. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, June 2 at 10:00 AM at Norwood Baptist Church, Budlong Avenue, Warwick. Burial in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston will be private. (05/29/14) Cumberland – Linda J. (Williams) Hicks, 65, of Dexter Street died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Harry Hicks. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Larue and Cora L. (Shelton) Williams. Mrs. Hicks was a textile worker and had worked for Sanford-White in Pawtucket and Health-Tex in Cumberland. She later worked as a bus monitor for the Cumberland School Department before retiring. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Harry Hicks, Jr.; one sister, Carolyn Williams; four brothers, Thomas Williams, Willie Williams, Edward Williams and Dennis Williams; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Brenda Williams and Jeffrey Williams. Her funeral service will be celebrated MONDAY, JUNE 2 at 12 Noon at BELLOWS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Born in Providence, a son of the late Earl and Eileen (Carton) Ashley, he had lived in Seekonk before moving to Cumberland fourteen years ago. Earl loved to cook, and worked as a chef at Gator’s Pub, Burrillville, until his illness a few weeks ago. He loved the beach, and enjoyed spending time down in Misquamicut. He was a member of the Albion Social Club, Lincoln. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Michelle Dubuc of Pawtucket and Lori Lynn Grant, and her husband Matthew Grant of Connecticut; three sons, Christopher Ashley of Cumberland, Shawn Ashley of Groton, CT, and Joseph Butera of East Providence; one sister, Lesley Dubois, and her husband Doug Dubois of Pawtucket; and one niece, Jamie Dubois of Pawtucket. (06/03/14) Frank J. Petrone, 84, of Wheeler Road, Stonington, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday evening, June 2, 2014 at The Clipper Home – Apple Rehab of Westerly. He is survived by his wife, Joanna C. (Cronin) Petrone of Stonington, his son, Wayne T. Petrone of Jacksonville, FL, his daughters, Frances Pearce of Westerly and daughter Roslyn Whitford and husband Drew, of Preston, six grandchildren, Matthew Petrone, Michael Petrone, Brandon Pearce, Justin Pearce, Alexa Whitford and Cali Whitford, his brothers, Charles Petrone of Westerly and Joseph Petrone of Farmington, his sister-in-law, Kathleen Jeffrey of Stonington and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Petrone was born in Westerly on November 17, 1929, the son of the late Domenic and Rose (DiPollino) Petrone. He was a graduate of Westerly High School who went on to proudly serve in the United States Army. Frank was a veteran of the Korean War who earned the rank of Sergeant and received the Korean Service medal with 2 bronze stars and the UN service medal. He worked for Consumers Dairy of Westerly and was a stock handler at CT Light & Power for 50 years. Frank was a life member of the Amancio-Falcone-Gaccione Veteran’s of Foreign Wars, Post #8955 of Westerly and the Calabrese Society of Westerly as well as the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local 457. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Church, 95 Main Street, Stonington at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 7, 2014. Cremation will follow the Mass. Interment with full military honors will take place at the Rhode Island Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Exeter on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at noon. Calling hours will take place at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly on the 70th anniversary of D-Day, Friday, June 6, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
