(06/05/14) East Providence – George N. DeWolfe, 84, of Rumford, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Joan C. (Howe) DeWolfe for 62 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Robert and Harriet (Mason) DeWolfe. George proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Roosevelt over three years. He worked as a driver-salesman for various bakeries in the area and later worked for FRAM Corporation, East Providence until his retirement in 1992. George was also a part-time custodian at St. Margaret Church, Rumford for many years. He was a handyman who enjoyed tinkering in the yard and around the house. George will best be remembered for his great sense of humor. Besides his loving wife, he leaves a son, Michael N. DeWolfe and his wife, Kathleen of Pawtucket; two daughters, Joanne E. Snow and her husband, Jon, Sr. of Portland, ME and Kerry A. Villanis and her husband, Brad of Wakefield; four grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was predeceased by his grandson, Kyle R. Snow and was the youngest of twelve late siblings. His funeral with Military Honors will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave. Committal services will follow at Swan Point Cemetery. VISITATION will be Monday 4 to 7 p.m. George’s family wishes to extend it deepest gratitude to the staff of the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence, for their kindness and compassion during an especially difficult time. She was the wife of the late Frederick Thomas Hammond. A lifelong resident of Manville, she was a daughter of the late Julio and Julia (Belbusti) Palazini. Mrs. Hammond was a saleslady at the Music Box and McCarthy’s Department Store, both of Woonsocket before retiring. She was a communicant of St. James Church, Manville. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Tessier and Jane E. Peters, both of Manville; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Wilson J. Palazini. Born in Worcester, MA, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Butera) Gallo, she had lived in Central Falls before moving to Cumberland in 1971. Mrs. Fruzenski was a jewelry worker at A.T. Cross Company, Lincoln before retiring. She is survived by one daughter, Karlene Laird and her husband, Douglas of Cumberland; one sister, Yolanda Mycroft of Cumberland; two brothers, Joseph Gallo of Providence and Arthillio Gallo of Smithfield; three grandchildren, Jason Laird, Kelley Souza and David Laird; two great granddaughters, Ariana and Kaelyn Souza; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ralph Gallo, Edna Tioli and Eleanor Sheldon. Born in Montreal, Canada, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Valerie (Lemire) Beaulieu. Lucy came to the United States in 1950 and resided in Pawtucket most of her life. (06/03/14) Glenn Richard Dummer, “Bulldog” as he was known to many, passed away unexpectedly on June 3, 2014. Drawing since he could hold a pen, he honed his craft over the years and became an accomplished artist. Though he never took an art class, he spent countless hours studying form on his own and was unflagging in his dedication to rendering images to perfection. He studied Art Education at the University of Maine because it combined his love of art with his love of children. He went on to become an award-winning and published tattoo artist and worked in many shops in RI, owning his own, Bulldog Tattoo, in Pawtucket. His talent will live on in the many people he tattooed with his custom work. His greatest love and the best piece of art work he produced was his son, Eric Joseph Dummer, 12, of Johnston, RI. He was fiercely proud of, and truly devoted to, his son’s happiness. He was the beloved son of Richard C. and Geraldine M. (Shirley) Dummer of Warwick, RI, and will be sadly missed by them, his sister, Kristin E. Dummer, and nephew, Lucas C. Foley, both also of Warwick. She was the wife of the late Louis Abraham, Sr. Born in Central Falls, a daughter of the late Gabriel and Mary (Anter) Stephen, she had lived in Lincoln for 47 years before moving to Greenville last year. Mrs. Abraham had worked for the R.I. Department of Employment Security and later was the administrative assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs at Rhode Island College before her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the Professional Secretaries Association. She was a member of St. Ephraim’s Syriac Orthodox Church, Central Falls, and its Ladies Society. She was also a member and Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eugene T. Lefebvre VFW Post #1271, Central Falls and the Ladies Auxiliary of Major Walter G. Gatchell VFW Post #171, Pawtucket. She is survived by one daughter, Gail Bonitati and her husband, Roland of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; two sisters, Alice Bohmler of Wrightstown, PA and Helen Panichas of Smithfield; one brother, James Stephen of Lincoln; five grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. August “Gus” M Hoffman – Coventry, RI

(06/09/14) Coventry – August A. “Gus” Hoffman, 84, died Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Kent Hospital in Warwick after being stricken at home. He was the beloved husband of Muriel F. (Raquier) Hoffman with whom he celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this month. Born in Bellingham, MA, a son of the late Alwin and Blanche (Staples) Hoffman, he was raised in Woonsocket moving to Coventry in 1967. He worked for 16 years as a security officer for General Dynamics’ Electric Boat Division, Quonset. An athletic young man, he played baseball and basketball during high school. After graduating from Woonsocket High School he played amateur baseball until serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. A lifelong baseball fanatic and sports enthusiast, he played softball until he was 70 years old, golfed in a league at Coventry Pines Golf Course and enjoyed playing pool, ping pong and basketball. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association and American Legion Post No.2, West Warwick. His family fondly remembers him as a devoted husband and father who was always there to provide encouragement, compassion, and a good joke to make everyone laugh. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Lynn Merry & her husband Robert of Andover, CT and Donna Crocker & her husband Todd of Coventry; one son: Thomas Hoffman of Coventry; one brother: Herman Hoffman of Dallas, GA and his two grandsons: Michael Crocker and Kyle Merry. He was the brother of the late Mary Hamilton, who died this past February. His funeral service will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Wednesday evening at 6:00. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn (Foran) Esposito for 59 years. He was born in Providence, a son of the late Ernest and Jennie (Nassa) Esposito. Ernie served with the First Marine Division during the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was past grand knight of the Msgr. Blessing Council Knights of Columbus. He was also active for many years with the Boy Scouts of America. Ernie worked at Quonset NAS until its closing and then worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. He continued to work for Citizens Bank, Rolfe Square up until 8 months ago. (06/11/14) Cumberland – Kimberly D. (Orzechowicz) Gauvin, 42, of Boyle Avenue died peacefully Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Michael S. Gauvin. Kim and Michael were married May 29, 1999. Born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Peter and Judith (Meikle) Orzechowicz, she had lived in Cumberland for the past 25 years. Mrs. Gauvin was a Lab Administrator of Microbiology at Kent County Memorial Hospital, Warwick for the past 16 years. She was a graduate of Woonsocket High School and the University of Rhode Island. She was a member of Arnold Mills United Methodist Church, Cumberland and a member of its choir. Besides her husband, she is survived by her beloved children, Grace and Sean Gauvin, both at home; her loving sisters, Heather Benoit of Sterling, CT and Lillian Bailey of Cranston; her loving brother, Steven Orzechowicz of Homestead, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Her Memorial Service will be celebrated SATURDAY, JUNE 14 at 11 A.M. in Arnold Mills United Methodist Church, 690 Nate Whipple Highway, Cumberland. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at BELLOWS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln FRIDAY 5-8 P.M. (06/11/14) McTAGUE, Elizabeth C. (McLaughlin), 81, formerly of Community Dr., Cranston, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Scandinavian Home. She was the wife of the late Terence “Terry” McTague. Born in County Leitrim, Ireland, a daughter of the late Patrick and Bridget (Conway) McLaughlin. Mrs. McTague was a communicant of St. Paul Church and a member of the Irish Ceilidhe Club. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and relatives. She was the sister of the late Rose McLaughlin and Mary McCrann. Her funeral will be held Saturday at 10 am from the JAMES J. GALLOGLY & SONS Funeral Home, 671 Broad St., Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am in St. Paul Church, One St. Paul Place, Cranston. Interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 5-7 pm.
