(06/09/14) West Greenwich- Jones, Marcia B. (Daniels), passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Brentwood Nursing Home in Warwick. She was the wife of the late David O. Jones. Born in Providence; she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Esther (Rusack) Daniels. Marcia was the church secretary for St. Mathias for many years. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary, Lake Mishnock Fire Department; member and former Worth Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Some interests were skiing, traveling and being adventurous. She is survived by three children: Kenneth and his wife Barbara Jones of West Greenwich, Donald Jones and his wife Kellie of Scituate and Cathy Coburn of West Greenwich; eight grandchildren: Kevin, Derek, Ryan, David, Courtney, Jake, Sarah and Darius; Great-grandchildren: Jada, Aaliyah and Rya; a sister Dorothy Harris. She is predeceased by two siblings: Frederick and Gilbert Daniels. A funeral service will be held at St. Lukes Episcopal Church, Pierce Street, East Greenwich on Saturday, June 14 at 11 AM followed with interment in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. An electrician and former manager for Broadway Electric, he was a graduate of Southeastern Massachusetts University, Class of 1972. He was a 30 year member and former director of the Battleship Cove Emergency CB Club, his handle being “J-Rod” and a volunteer of the Fall River and Swansea Civil Defense units. Besides his wife of 43 years, he leaves 2 sons, Michael G. Carpenter and his wife Carolyn of Plymouth and Kevin M. Lovegreen, Sr. Born in Boston, MA, the daughter of the late Alcide and Leonore (Brodeur) Tougas, she lived in Warwick before moving to Coventry 15 years ago. She worked in retail sales at Ann & Hope in Warwick. She loved to read and socialize. She enjoyed sitting on the beach, especially Buttonwoods Beach in Warwick. She is survived by four children: LuAnn M. Pierce of Riverside, Robert A. Wilcox of Warwick, Judy L. Bourassa of Monroe, TN and Lori Karlson of South Carolina; six grandchildren: David, Jamie, Danielle, Jeff, Michael & Alyssa and three great grandchildren: Cody, Emma & Anna. She was predeceased by her brother Roger Tougas. (06/13/14) Helen Frances (Holleran) Gula, 72, of Fall River, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Catholic Memorial Home, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves a son, Marc Gula and his wife Heather of Houston, Texas; siblings, Nancy Medeiros (husband Jim), James Holleran, Phyllis Furtado (husband Manny) Mildred Shaughnessy (husband Michael), Sheila Holleran and Cheryl Mazurek (husband Louis), all of Fall River and many nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late James D. and Doris (O’Neil) Holleran and the sister of the late Judith Hathaway, Maureen Vincent, Dorothy Lavoie (late husband Nelson) and her twin brother William Holleran. Helen worked for the Fall River School Department in her early years, did various volunteer work and was a homemaker. She loved reading, going to the beach and taking “mini vacations” with her family and friends. Throughout her life Helen had a strong faith and shared the Gospel with those who were open to hear it. While in the nursing home over the past several years Helen cherished her visits with family and friends. She was a wonderful mother, sister and friend. She was loved. Her family extends a thank-you to the staff at the Fall River Jewish Home for the care and kindness they provided to Helen over the past 8 years. We extend a special thank-you to the staff at the Catholic Memorial Home and South Coast Hospice for the compassion, love and blessings they gave to Helen on her “journey home” . Bennett, CPA, with whom she celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary in 2009. Born in Providence she was a daughter of the late George W. and Susannah (Parkinson) Morton. She is survived by one daughter: Sandra L. Lacross & her husband William of Warwick; three grandchildren: William J. Lacross of Warwick, Sheree L. Boberg of Warwick and Sandra J. Lacross & her fiancé Patrick W. Feeney of Coventry; six great grandchildren: Derrick J Lacross, Anthony J. Iannone, Cain E. Boberg, Elyssa S. Lacross, Aleta G. Boberg and Alexander J. Lugo; one sister: Martha V. Anderson of Warwick and her children Marsha Silva and Carl Anderson. Thelma was a graduate of the former East Greenwich Academy. She attended Johnson & Wales Business School and studied textile design at the Rhode Island School of Design. She worked as a billing clerk for the former Bellin and Wood Photography Company of Providence and she worked in the lab of the former Apponaug Company. She was a member of the Professional Women’s Association. In 1971 & 1976 Thelma served as Worthy Matron of Betsy Williams Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, now affiliated with Signet Chapter. She also served as Chaplain of the Rhode Island Grand Chapter, OES. She was a former member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Pawtuxet and currently a member at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Warwick. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late James C. and Rose G. (McFadden) McNamee. Kathy graduated from St. Xavier Academy, Providence, and received a B.A. in English from the University of Rhode Island. Kathleen served as the Director of Senior Services, Warwick, for 20 years before retiring. She was the sister of Marion Cipolla of Worcester, MA, Susan Greeley of East Greenwich, RI and the late James C. McNamee Jr. Kathleen was the loving aunt of 8 nieces and nephews, and 3 great nieces and nephew. Kathy was a devoted daughter, and will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and generosity. (06/14/14) Lincoln – Myrna Lamb, 71, radio personality, astrologer, published author and teacher, passed away on Monday, June 9. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Lamb. She is survived by her daughters, Nadia Lamb, Ariela McCaffrey, and her brother, Eliot. She was affectionately known as Purple Gram to her treasured grandchildren, Jakob, Nastasya, Declan and Aven. Myrna hosted a variety of radio programs, first on astrology, then a general advice show, syndicated on NBC and broadcast on 300 radio stations nationwide. Her next talk shows aired on WGY in Albany, NY, and then on WPRO, Providence. She was awarded an Associated Press Award for best talk program. Her background was eclectic. Starting with a liberal arts education, she went on to earn a BFA in painting from Rhode Island School of Design, spending her senior year in Italy on the European Honors’ Program. She spoke Italian fluently. While in college, she completed a year of equity apprenticeship at Trinity Repertory Theater in Rhode Island. She held Master’s degrees in both teaching and psychology, and taught art on every level from preschool through college, in private classes, public middle school, and at Rhode Island School of Design. With over 100 family and friends in attendance, Myrna celebrated her life at an event held on Sunday, May 25. Langlois, 74, affectionately known to all as “JANE”, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family early Sunday morning at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the devoted wife of 51 years to Gerald W. Langlois of East Providence, formerly of Pawtucket. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Francis & Sarah (McNulty) Cherry. Mrs. Langlois worked for Hasbro in Pawtucket for many before retiring. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Michael Langlois of Cromwell, CT and James Langlois of Pawtucket; two daughters, Jane Bodell of Uxbridge, MA and Linda Burchfield of North Providence; two sisters, Veronica Beaulieu of Rumford and Theresa Nacci of Pawtucket; and ten beautiful grandchildren who she loved and adored. She was the sister of the late Harold, George, Joseph, Edward and James Cherry, Alice Snow, Mary Grzesik, Eileen Land, and Hazel Audette. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, playing cards, gardening, and most important to her was spending time with her family and friends. Ellie was a Directress of Religious Education at various parishes throughout the Dioceses of Fall River and Providence for over 23 years until her retirement. She was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish Music Ministry and Women’s Guild. Ellie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family. Besides her loving husband, she leaves five children, Patricia A. Sherrerd of Seekonk, Stephen R. Hayes and his longtime girlfriend, Lori Spaziano of Valrico, FL, Ann Marie H.VanDeGiesen and her husband, Cal of Franklin, Kathleen E. Harold E Crook, Jr. – Cranston, RI

(06/17/14) Cranston – Harold E. Crook, Jr., 85 died Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Kent Hospital, Warwick. He was the beloved husband of E. Virginia (Tillman) Crook with whom he celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on June 5, 2014. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Harold E. and Doris E. (Cooney) Crook, Sr., he was a lifelong resident of Cranston. Harold graduated from Cranston High School in 1946. He was a star athlete in football and hockey and he was Class President. After graduating he played football with the City Hall Athletic Club. For 35 years he worked for his father at Harold Crook and Son Garage on Gansett Avenue in Cranston. Started by his father in 1928, Crook’s Garage was recognized in 1979 for 50 years of service to the members of the Automobile Club of Rhode Island. Harold became the owner of the Garage in January of 1980. Harold also served as coach of the Crook’s Garage Senior Amateur Hockey Team. He loved to play golf and for 32 years was a member of the Foster Country Club. He was an accomplished pianist and often could be heard playing at the former Meshanticut Green on Oaklawn Avenue. His favorite music was Jazz and Dixieland. He was an avid sports fan who faithfully followed the Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots. On the occasion of Harold’s 60th birthday, former RI Governor Edward D. DiPrete declared December 9, 1988 as “Harold E. Crook Recognition Day”. A Mason for 63 years he belonged to Doric Lodge #38, AF&AM, now affiliated with Harmony Lodge #9 and the Rhode Island Shriners. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children: Harold E Crook III & his wife Joyce of Narragansett, Calvin J. Crook of North Providence and Nancy L. McDaniel & her husband Ed of San Juan Capistrano, CA and five grandchildren: Ian, Jared & Zoe Crook, Dylan & Hayden McDaniel. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10 am at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Wednesday from 5-7 pm and on Thursday morning prior to the service from 9-10 am. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Warwick. (06/17/14) John E. Duran, 85, of Providence passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mildred L. (Wilks) Duran. Born in Portland, Maine, he was a son of the late Michael J. and Mary F. (Flaherty) Duran. Mr. Duran was a Maintenance employee for Doran Building in Providence until his retirement. He enjoyed working on his computer and painting. He was the loving uncle of several nieces and nephews. Brother of the late Thomas, Michael, Patrick and Mary Duran, Barbara Pardi and Frances Crone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on SATURDAY, June 21, 2014 at 10:00 am in St. Mary Church, 538 Broadway, Providence. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on THURSDAY, June 19, 2014 from 5-7 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). (06/17/14) RICCIUTI, PATRICIA A., 57, of Johnston passed away Monday June 16, 2014 at home. Born in Providence a daughter of Antonetta (Crugnale) Ricciuti and the late Anthony Ricciuti. Patricia was a United States Postal Worker. Besides her mother, she is survived by one brother, Robert Ricciuti and his wife Joan (Kwetkowski), two sisters, Paula Muoio and her husband Dennis, Karen Kramer and her husband Peter. Also survived by nieces and nephews Kalyn Ricciuti, Dennis Jr., Brian and Marissa Muoio, Ryan and Holly Kramer and great nieces and nephew Jillian, Riley and Joel. Her funeral is Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from \\”WOODLAWN\\” Funeral Home 600 POntiac Avenue Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. (06/17/14) Lincoln – Albert J. Smith, 84, of Cecile Street died Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Pauline M. (King) Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Smith were married 60 years last September 7. Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Albert and Sarah A. (McMahon) Smith, he had lived in Lincoln for the past 51 years. Mr. Smith was a sales representative for Valley Resources before retiring. He was a Korean War Navy veteran. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Maureen Coletta of Warwick and Frances Smith of Haverhill, MA; four sons, Brian Smith of North Carolina, Bruce Smith of North Attleboro, MA, Keith Smith of Staten Island, NY and Kenneth Smith of Lincoln; three sisters, Alberta Smith (Albert’s twin) of Lincoln, Helen Doane of Westport, MA and Doris Carroll of Pawtucket; one brother, Arthur Smith of Lincoln; eleven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James Smith, Frances Smith, Sally Henderson and Vera Smith. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held FRIDAY, JUNE 20 at 10 A.M. in St. Jude’s Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln. Burial, with military honors, will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Ralph H Childs – Providence, RI

(06/16/14) Providence- Childs, Ralph H., loving husband, father, grandfather and a good friend to many people he met along the road of life. Ralph died at the age of 91 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence just three months after he lost Doris, his wife of 68 years. He will be sorely missed. Born in Independence, Missouri, Ralph grew up during the Great Depression and left home at the age of 17 to join the U.S. Navy where he rose to Chief Petty Officer. He spent the next 20 years of his life living in Hawaii, California, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. His Navy career also led him to many foreign ports of call including the Antarctic and South America. One of the highlights of his career came when he served as an engineer on the warplane, the Mars, the largest seaplane of its kind at the time. While based at Olathe, Kansas, he met and married the love of his life, Doris DiSaia, a vivacious Navy WAVE. They had two daughters, Paula and Pamela, both born in Honolulu. Following his retirement from the Navy, Ralph went to work as a Manager of Operations for Allied Service Company at T.F. Greene Airport in Warwick where he met many good friends in the airline industry. Ralph was known for his dry wit, his integrity and his love for his family. He and Doris enjoyed many rounds of golf in both Rhode Island and Ft. Pierce, Florida, where they spent their retirement for nearly 20 wonderful years. He is survived by his daughter, Paula, and her husband, Dr. Mark Rose of Medfield, MA and his daughter, Pamela Childs of Key Colony Beach, Florida. He also leaves three loving grandchildren: Haley, Rose of Boston, MA, Amanda Rose of North Kingstown, RI and Gregory Rose of Medfield, MA. Ralph is also survived by his sister, Alice Mathis and her husband Cliff of Missouri. No services are planned. Remembrances at carpenterjenks.com.
