Haven Henry Brooks – Fall River, MA

(06/24/14) Haven Henry Brooks, four year old son of Lori (Reis) Brooks and Ryan Brooks of Fall River, died Monday, June 23, 2014. Besides his parents, he leaves siblings, Oshaun, Rahieme and Kyanna Brooks; grandparents, Patricia Crepeau, Kevin Crepeau and Phillip Brooks; his great-grandmother, Frances Reis; aunts and uncles, Craig Reis, Chad Crepeau, and Dennis, Shirley Ruest and Donna and Paul Imbeau; cousins and Haven’s entire Jamaican Family. Haven Henry Brooks was the most courageous and strong fighter that we will ever know. He enjoyed being cancer-free for the first 27 months of his life. That all changed On October 29, 2011 when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a deadly childhood cancer and then the treatment and living in and out of Children’s Hospital, Boston began. Haven endured a 2 ½ year straight journey of chemo, surgery, radiation, stem cell transplant and a 25 day medically induced coma from which he awakened and said mommy 10 minutes later. He was home playing 2 weeks later after doctors had told us that he could be in the hospital for months weaning off adult medications. Then came 20 radiation and antibody therapy. This ugly-ugly disease is relentless and just would not stop even after Haven began natural therapies along with more conventional treatment. Through all of this he acted like a typical little boy and no one knew he was sick unless they knew us and his smile would light up a room. He would crack jokes, help with chores and cook with his daddy. His last days were very difficult, he was in pain and had breathing difficulties, but our little angel fought through that until his final breath saying mommy. Haven you are missed and hearts are broken. You will never be forgotten and your family will be sure you leave a legacy. We love you Haven and know that we will be together again. His funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Visitation, Thursday morning prior to the service from 8:00 to 11:00 AM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. Donations may be made to Hearts for Haven, 37 Day St., Fall River MA 02724. Online guest book at AuclairFuneralHome.com.
