(11/02/14) PETRARCA, Levon M. (Lambert), 55, of Burlingame Road, West Warwick, passed away Saturday morning, November 1, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at Kent Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Andre M. Petrarca, they had been married for 32 years. Born in West Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Billy Ray and Amelia (Pacheco) Lambert. She was a lifelong resident of West Warwick. Besides her husband she leaves two sons, Andre M. Petrarca, Jr. and his wife Amanda of Coventry and Joseph M. “Joey” Petrarca of West Warwick; three grandsons, Lucas, Nathan and Adam Petrarca and three sisters, Janet Ventura, Lea Reynolds and Gail Connelly all of West Warwick. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014 at 9 am from the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick. (11/02/14) Cora L. (Caya) Nobriga, 87, of West Warwick, died Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Kent Hospital Warwick. She was the wife of the late Joaquim P. Nobriga. Cora was born in Coventry, a daughter of the late Paul and Theodora (Langlais) Caya. She was a nursing assistant for many years. Cora was the mother of Robert P. Nobriga, Sr., of West Warwick, David A. Nobriga of West Warwick, Donald H. Nobriga of West Warwick, and also Jacqueline Crusenberry of Ft. Pierce Florida. She was the grandmother of six, and the great-grandmother of nine. A funeral home service will be held Tuesday November 4, 2014 at 8:00pm in the Prata-Murphy Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick, RI. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. (11/02/14) Eugene H. \”Gene\” \”Red\” Rascle, Sr., 94, of Coventry, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Coventry Health Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Noela A. \”Lucille\” (Gourd) Rascle. They had been married for over 66 years. Gene was born in Stratford, CT, a son of the late Henri and Helene (Forcoz) Rascle. He was the Owner/Operator of Red’s Auto Body of West Warwick and had also been the Manager of the Auto Body Division of the former Webber Chevrolet. He was a proud U.S. Veteran of WWII. \”Red\” was a graduate of West Warwick High School Class of 1938 and the Officers Candidate School. He was a communicant of Saints John and Paul Church Coventry, and was a member of the North Kingstown Stamp Club. He also enjoyed gardening. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Eugene H. “Gene” Rascle Jr. (Sandra) of Marietta GA and Lucille Fox Bollengier (Robert) of West Greenwich. He was the grandfather of Nicholas T. Fox and Samantha Morrow Rascle. \”Gene\” was the brother of the late Madeline Szydlo and the late Philomene Hebert. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:00am from The URQUHART – MURPHY Funeral Home, 800-812 Greenwich Ave., Warwick, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Saints John and Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry Burial with Military Honors will follow in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Born in Pawtucket, RI, she was the wife of the late John O. Hoxsie, Sr. and the daughter of the late Edward J. and Margaret (Aldworth) McSoley. Mary was a salesperson for many years for Kmart, Grants, and McCrory, all located in Coventry, RI. She is survived by two sons; John O. Hoxsie, Jr. and his wife Linda and Edward J. Hoxsie, four grandchildren; Jessica Pennington, John R. Hoxsie, Michele Pflomm and Sean Hoxsie and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters; Margaret Parker and Flora Hassell. (11/03/14) Charles Fratus, 94, of West Warwick, died Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Kent Hospital. He was the husband of the late Irene (Hallam) Fratus and the late Dorothy (Liberti) Fratus. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Souza) Fratus. Charles was a Lace Weaver for many years. Mr. Fratus was a WWI Veteran serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1697 in West Warwick and was also a member of the American Legion. He is survived by a daughter Loreen L. Beachaine of West Warwick, a granddaughter Jennifer and her husband Richard Levevre of Warwick, and a great-granddaughter Juni Lefevre of Warwick. He was the brother of the late Manuel Fratus, Jesse Fratus, Joseph Fratus, and also the late Laura Moniz. His funeral service will be held Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 12 Noon in the PRATA-MURPHY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick. Burial will follow in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery. (Eldridge) DiMasi, they had been married for 55 years. Born in West Warwick, he was the son of the late Thomas and Virginia (Blais) DiMasi. He was a lifelong resident of the Pawtuxet Valley area. Mr. DiMasi was a Registered Pharmacist with DiMasi Pharmacy for many years before retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, enjoyed golfing, stamp and coin collecting. Besides his wife, he leaves three children, Julie Patrizio and her husband Ron of Largo, FL, Thomas DiMasi of Coventry and Lisa M. Lukowicz and her husband John of Coventry; a sister, Eleanor Martin of Warwick and six grandchildren, Matt, India, Thomas, Alex, Lena and Laura. He was the brother of the late Anne Woolfall, Irene Ruzzo, Edith Dion, Beatrice, Roland and Frank DiMasi. Francis “Frank” Kane Jr. – Narragansett, RI

(11/04/14) Narragansett – Francis “Frank” Kane, Jr., 89, of Sweet Birch Trail died Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Deborah A. (Neilsen) Kane with whom he celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary on October 25, 2014. Born in Providence, the son of the late Francis and Marjorie (Taylor) Kane, he lived in Cranston moving to Narragansett in 1982. He worked as a roofer, employed in the residential construction industry retiring in 1982. He served during World War II in the United States Navy from Dec. 10, 1942 to Sept. 28, 1945. He was injured on February 20, 1944 in the sinking of USS LST-348. Participating in the landings in Anzio-Nettuno, Operation Shingle, USS LST 348 was torpedoed by German Submarine U-410 and was sunk about 40 nautical miles south of Naples, Italy. On board were 103 crew members; 24 died in the attack, including four officers. Frank was rescued by USS LCI(L)-219 and later was one of 31 men transferred to the British hospital ship HMHS Leinster. Most of the injured were suffering from second and third degree burns received in a fire on board after the vessel was hit and split in two by a second torpedo. Frank was the recipient of a Purple Heart. He was a member of the US LST Association and a life member of the American Legion. One of his passions in life was being a military historian. He was an avid collector with many diverse interests. His collections include trains, trolley cars, fire trucks, books and military memorabilia. He loved animals. For over 50 years he was a member of the Rhode Island Highlanders Pipe Band playing the bass drum. He was a member of the St. Andrews Society of Rhode Island. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Candace, Lynn and Meghan Kane and two granddaughters: Chelsie Kane and Skylar Swanson. He was the brother of Ann, William and Joseph Kane. He was grandfather of the late Braxton Kane Swanson. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 12:00 pm at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston. (11/05/14) Marie T. Cotter passed into eternal life on Thursday, October 30th, 2014 in Hamden, CT, after a valiant battle with brain cancer. A long-time resident of Brookline, MA, Marie spent her final months with her sister, Barbara Morrison at Atria Larson Place in Hamden. Born in Providence, RI in 1920 to the late Thomas and Anna (Kelly) Cotter, Miss Cotter earned her BA at Brown University and her graduate degree at Teachers College Columbia University. Miss Cotter served as Library Director, teacher and author at Wheelock College, Boston from 1946 through 1985. Her knowledge of Boston’s architecture and history was as renowned as her hospitality. An avid traveler and reader, Marie enjoyed her retirement actively working with special collections in area university libraries, supporting the Boston Symphony, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Gardner Museum and cherishing the pursuits of her 20 nieces and nephews and nearly 40 grandnieces and nephews. Marie was the sister of the late Thomas Paul Cotter, M.D. of Riverside, California and she is survived by her sisters, Helen O’Neil of Attleboro, Massachusetts, Barbara Morrison of Hamden, Connecticut, Rosemary Cain of Cedar Park, Texas and her brother Leo Cotter of Salem, Massachusetts. Fryzel and Son Builders, Bristol. He was a self-employed builder since the age of 16. Rudolph was a hard worker and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. (11/06/14) Wakefield – Estelle (Gilheeney) Nixon, 92, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas A. Nixon. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William and Nell (Rogan) Gilheeney. Estelle was the payroll manager at Texnor Apex, Pawtucket, for many years until her retirement. In more recent years, Estelle volunteered much of her time working in the gift shop at Memorial Hospital of RI and the Peacedale House Store in Wakefield. Estelle enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at various places along the Rhode Island coastline, especially in Narragansett and Matunuck. In her younger years she enjoyed to dance. Estelle was also a longtime member and past-president of the Pawtucket Women’s Club. She leaves a daughter, Nancy J. Moreau and her husband, John of Attleboro; three grandchildren, Gregory and Derek Marchand and Amy Higney; four great-grandchildren, Sidney and Jackson Marchand and Caroline and Cameron Higney; a son-in-law, Alan Marchand of Matunuck and many nieces and nephews. Estelle was the mother of the late Susan Marchand of Matunuck and the sister of the late William, James, Bert and Harold Gilheeney. Her funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. She was a Past President of the Golden Agers of Manville and Albion and volunteered for many years for Meals-on-Wheels. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Seniors Group, Woonsocket and St. John’s Seniors, North Smithfield. She was also a member of the Fierlit-Korzen Post #79, American Legion Auxiliary, Central Falls for many years. She is survived by one daughter, Louise A. Pontbriand and her husband, Marcel of South Kingstown; one son, Richard M. Lauzon and his wife, Vivian of Albion; one sister, Martha Coté of North Smithfield; six grandchildren, Michelle Menard, Steven Lauzon, Richard and Michael Garland, and Courtney and Lindsay Pontbriand; three great grandchildren, Hailey and Michael Menard, Samantha Lauzon and her great grandchildren in Texas; and several nieces and nephews. She was married for 65 years to her husband Bill. Carly worked for several banks during her career in CT. She greatly enjoyed her retirement in Charlestown, particularly boating on Ninigret Pond with her husband. She also enjoyed cooking, playing cards, bingo and the slots at Foxwoods. She was the beloved wife of the late Bill W. Lively. At the time of his death on October 21, 2013 they had been married 66 years. Born in Cincinnati, OH, a daughter of the late Emil E. and Irma M. (Gronauer) Maier, she worked during World War II as a benefits coordinator for the Veterans Administration. She later worked as a secretary. Lois was a devoted grandmother. She loved to travel and her appreciation for art led her to visit art museums around the world. She also was an avid reader. She is survived by two daughters: Nancy E. Zigerelli of Warwick, RI and Amy Lively Jensen of Elgin, IL; one son: Mark Lively of Rancho Mirage, CA; one sister: Vera Gustafson of Cincinnati, OH; her granddaughter Laurel Zigerelli of Washington, DC and her twin grandsons Nicholas and Alexander Zigerelli of Warwick. She was predeceased by her sister Ruth Kuyper. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 8th at 10 AM at St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. (11/07/14) Beatrice “Bea” (Roy) Perry, 88, of Fall River, widow of Kenneth N. Perry, died peacefully in her sleep, Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Catholic Memorial Home. Originally from the Flint section of Fall River and growing up in the Notre Dame community she worked at Kerr Mill and was one of the original employees of White’s Restaurant of Westport. Later on she and her husband were apartment managers. Their job consisted of traveling to many new residences in Upstate New York, Texas, Florida, Tennessee back to New York and eventually retiring on their beloved Cape Cod were she cared for her husband throughout his longtime illness. She was the Mother of the late Janice Perry formerly of Fall River and the late Christine Perry formerly of Dennis, Cape Cod; the grandmother of Leslie (Ferry) Helger (husband Ray) of Little Compton, Lawrence Ferry, III (wife Susan) of Tiverton and Danielle (Larrimore) Sylvia (husband Chris) of Cape Cod; the great-grandmother of Cody and Jesse Helger, Nora Sylvia and Lawrence Joseph Ferry, IV; the daughter of the late Oscar and Alice (Antaya) Roy; the sister of Germaine Monastero; the late Adrien Roy and Eva Manosh. Born in Providence, RI, he was the husband of Barbara A. (Duffy) Cournoyer. They were married for thirty-eight years. He was the son of the late Albert W. and Gertrude (Laperriere) Cournoyer. Paul was a foreman for Norton Company for thirty years until retiring. Besides his wife he is survived by three children; John A. Cournoyer, Anthony M. Fiore and Sheila A. Fiore, a brother; Albert Cournoyer, two sisters; Claire Cournoyer and Lillian Mayers, three grandchildren; Jessica, Stefanie and James (JT), and two great grandsons. (11/06/14) Millard F. \”Bud\” \”Pepper\” Rayhill, Jr., 90, of Warwick, died Tuesday, November 5, 2014 at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol. He was the husband of the late Patricia M. (Porcelli) Rayhill. Mr. Rayhill was born in Warwick, a son of the late Millard F. and Emma (Straight) Rayhill, Sr. Mr. Rayhll was a self-employed skilled carpenter. A lifelong Warwick resident, he was a Veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII. \”Pepper\” served as a mentor at Warwick Veterans High School. Mr. Rayhill is survived by his children, a son Steven D. Rayhill of Warwick, two daughters Karen A. Iafrati of Coventry, and Sherri A. Davenport of Warwick. His siblings, Bertha M. Padula of Florida, Nora Sherman of East Greenwich, William Rayhill of East Greenwich and Barbara P. Anderson of East Greenwich. He was the grandfather of seven and the great grandfather of eight. He was the father of the late Millard J. Rayhill. He was the brother of the late Madeline M. Beaumier, the late Marion Ficazzola, the late Doris Brochu, the late Anna Rathbun, the late Emma Sokolowski, and also the late Isabel Clark. His funeral service will be held Monday, November 10,2014 at 9:30am in the URQUHART – MURPHY FUNERAL HOME 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 10:30am in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited. (11/08/14) North Kingstown – Muriel G. Caldwell-Niles, 97, formerly of Stony Lane passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Scalabrini Villa in North Kingstown. She was the beloved wife of Charles L. Niles, Jr. and of the late William H. Caldwell, Sr. Born in Cranston, the daughter of the late William and Ida (Paine) Richardson, Jr., she lived in North Kingstown for most of her life. She was a graduate of the former Rhode Island College of Education. For many years Muriel taught first graders in Cranston and North Kingstown retiring in 1977. In 1972, she was chosen Teacher of the Year in North Kingstown. One of her greatest joys was crocheting afghans for the Linus Program at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. She was a long time member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in East Greenwich. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son: David A. Caldwell of North Kingstown; four grandchildren: William H. Caldwell, III of Pleasant Grove, CA; Pamela Morgan of Sacramento, CA; David A. Caldwell, Jr. of Warwick & Sharon Bousquet of Griswold, CT and six great grandchildren: Claire & Sarah Caldwell, Delia & Tyler Bousquet, Daniel Caldwell and Jacob Morgan. She was the mother of the late Bruce R. Caldwell and William H. Caldwell, Jr. and sister of the late Marion Beardwood & Evelyn Richardson. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, October 10 at 7:00 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Interment in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston will be private. Born in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Frederick B. and Gracie M. Kenyon. Mrs. Morgan resided in Warwick before moving to West Greenwich in 1985. She was a member of Living Word Fellowship. Besides her husband, she is survived by her devoted children David Bennett Morgan and his wife Loreta of Exeter, and Dennis Edward Morgan and his wife Melodye of West Greenwich. Her cherished grandchildren Michael T. Morgan of Putnam Ct., and Sarah Susan Morgan of West Greenwich. She was predeceased by her loving daughter Susan Debra Morgan and her sister Viola George.
